WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item upgrader mod level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the Item level Upgrade level, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of button, which displays a preview of the item at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require several methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a certain item upgrades level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is true even if those items are from a different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade items their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly. It is best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
